Note:

The joint sealing tape should be inserted into the joint immediately after the deck boards have been laid. Be careful not to stretch or pull the tape when pressing it in. Otherwise, it may contract after some time and become too short as a result.

Plan for about 10 mm of additional length per linear meter of joint. This extra length should overhang evenly at both ends. Like other materials exposed to temperature fluctuations, the joint sealing tape can change in length. After about a year, no further changes in length are usually expected; the overhanging ends can then be trimmed.

The spacing of the substructure joists should be a maximum of 400 mm. With larger spacing, increased deflection of the deck boards under load may cause the tape to be pushed out of the joint. In addition, ensure sufficient ventilation underneath the deck floor: this should be at least 8 cm.
