The board originates from tropical South America (Southern Brazil, Northern Argentina, Paraguay) and meets the requirements of durability class 3 according to DIN-EN 350-2, making it suitable for long-term outdoor use – only direct soil contact requires restrictions. With a bulk density of 790–1,010 kg/m³ and a Brinell hardness of 30–79 N/mm², Garapa offers a particularly robust and resilient surface.

The kiln-drying (KD) process ensures an optimal wood moisture content of 16–18 %, which makes the board dimensionally stable. The moderate swelling and shrinking behavior facilitates professional installation – a gap of at least 4 mm must be maintained during laying.

Workability: Garapa is easy to work with but requires carbide-tipped tools. Pre-drilling is necessary to prevent screw heads from shearing off or splitting.

Iron-tannin reaction: Contact with ferrous metals should be avoided, as the tannin-containing components can lead to grey-blue discoloration. A4 stainless steel is recommended for fastenings, and surface water should be drained in a controlled manner to prevent staining.
