Doussie

Doussie – African hardwood with a warm coloration

Warm, expressive and versatile: Doussie is an African hardwood with a golden-brown to reddish-brown coloration. Its high degree of hardness and its comparatively low swelling and shrinkage behavior make it an interesting wood species for parquet, floorboards, and other interior design applications.

Properties of Doussie

• ✔ Golden-brown to reddish-brown hue
• ✔ Hard and dense wood
• ✔ Comparatively low swelling and shrinkage behavior
• ✔ Uniform, medium-coarse structure
• ✔ Straight to partially interlocked grain
• ✔ Suitable for high-traffic indoor areas

Technical and visual properties

Doussie combines high wood hardness with comparatively low dimensional changes when wood moisture varies. Like any natural wood material, it still reacts to changes in the room climate. Professional installation as well as constant temperature and humidity conditions are therefore important.

The heartwood initially shows golden-brown to light reddish-brown shades and can darken under the influence of light and aging. Color and structural differences are part of the natural appearance of this wood species.

Use and design

Doussie is used for parquet, floorboards, stairs, interior finishing, and furniture, among other things. Oiled surfaces emphasize the color and structure of the wood. A lacquered finish forms a closed protective layer and is available in different degrees of gloss.

Since Doussie contains natural wood components, suitable products adapted to this wood species must be used for bonding and surface treatment. The respective processing instructions must be observed.

Surface and care

The required maintenance effort depends on the selected surface treatment and the use of the floor. Oiled surfaces are treated with a suitable maintenance oil as needed. For lacquered surfaces, cleaning and care products adapted to them must be used.

Areas of application

Doussie is suitable for living spaces, offices, hotels, and other interior areas. Due to its warm color effect, the wood species can be combined with both classic and modern furnishing concepts.
