With durability class 3 according to DIN EN 350-2, Garapa is characterized by excellent weather resistance and can be used without chemical protective measures (excluding direct soil contact). The high density of 790–1,010 kg/m³ and a Brinell hardness of up to 79 N/mm² make Garapa particularly robust and durable, ideal for high-traffic terrace areas.

The wood exhibits moderate swelling and shrinkage; therefore, a gap width of at least 4 mm should be maintained during installation. Pre-drilling is required to prevent cracks or the snapping of screws, and carbide-tipped tools ensure clean cuts.

For fastening, grade A4 stainless steel screws are recommended to avoid grey-blue discoloration caused by the wood's tannin content. Controlled water drainage provides additional protection against surface contamination.
