Garapa wood impresses with its high natural durability, mechanical strength, and its characteristic honey-yellow hue, which darkens to a warm brownish tone after installation.

The wood originates from tropical South America (southern Brazil, northern Argentina, Paraguay) and belongs to durability class 3 according to DIN-EN 350-2, making it suitable for long-term outdoor use – only direct contact with the ground requires limitations. With a bulk density of 790–1,010 kg/m³ and a Brinell hardness of 30–79 N/mm², Garapa is particularly robust and resilient.

Technical drying (KD – kiln-dried) ensures an optimal wood moisture content of 16–18%, which keeps the board dimensionally stable. Its moderate swelling and shrinkage behavior makes installation easy – a gap of at least 4 mm should be maintained during laying.

Workability: Garapa is easy to work with but requires carbide-tipped tools. Pre-drilling is absolutely necessary to avoid screws snapping or cracking.

Iron-tannin reaction: Contact with ferrous metals must be avoided, as tannin-containing ingredients can lead to gray-blue discolorations. Stainless steel A4 is recommended for fastenings, and surface water should be drained in a controlled manner to prevent staining.
