Garapa belongs to durability class 3 according to DIN EN 350-2 and thus offers excellent weather resistance, even without additional chemical protective measures (excluding direct soil contact). With a density of 790–1,010 kg/m³ and a Brinell hardness of up to 79 N/mm², Garapa is particularly robust and resilient – ideal for heavily used patio areas.

The medium swelling and shrinkage behavior requires a gap width of at least 4 mm during installation to compensate for natural dimensional changes. Pre-drilling is mandatory for precise assembly, as the hardwood is particularly hard and silica deposits have an abrasive effect. Carbide-tipped tools are recommended for clean work.

For fastening, only grade A4 stainless steel screws should be used to avoid gray-blue discoloration caused by reactions with tannin-containing ingredients. Controlled water drainage provides additional protection against surface contamination.
